Thanks to modern technologies, it has become possible to produce relatively inexpensive, high-quality models of lighthouses.

Not only in our project, but also in many families, models become part of a developing collection, which is important for many children; in this way, from childhood, it is possible to instill an interest in the history of the Russian navy, the sea, and adventures.

The main focus of our project "Lighthouse. Lighthouses of Russia and the World" is aimed at popularizing the lighthouses of Russia, because this interesting topic with a rich history is practically inaccessible to the general public in Russia, and even more so to lighthouse lovers from abroad who are interested in Russian lighthouses

Therefore, among other things, for all models we make short videos using historical material, in the genre of a walk through the lighthouse, in which, while “travelling” through the model, the lighthouse and its history are briefly and unobtrusively shown. All videos are publicly available and will eventually be provided with English subtitles.

Models from our collection can be seen at exhibitions dedicated to lighthouses, and if you want to collect your own collection or make a gift, write to us and we will tell you how and where such models can be made to order.

About our models

Our approach to modeling is shown in a short video Modeling Light.

What is special about our collection and approach to production:

###

1.     High accuracy and reliability of the lighthouse model (especially a lot of details on scales 1:100, 1:200) - all models are worked out in detail and designed using modern CAD systems. The ability to convey any state of the lighthouse - only built or current, without embellishing reality.

2.     The ability to choose the optimal scale of lighthouse models in which to present the collection. We will help you choose the optimal scale to fit the model into the existing restrictions of the place where it will be installed.

3.      Optimal price.  Our project is non-commercial, so the issue of price when creating a collection is very important. Despite the individual production of models, modern design and production methods make it possible to create models for every taste and detail at an adequate cost.

4.     Originality. Various techniques are used to make the model unique, memorable and unique, for example, it could be frozen splashes of waves enveloping a lighthouse.

5.     Protecting models from damage and dust. Mainly for dioramas (although it is possible for any model), a protective transparent dome is made to protect against dust and damage.

6.     Ability to demonstrate the exact light code of the lighthouse, tower and building lighting.  Some models are self-powered, which allows them to be kept on during the exhibition for a long time, demonstrating the exact mode of the light code (from “Lights and Signs” and directions). If you need a composition or model, not only on a lighthouse theme, this is also possible. Subdued light allows you to demonstrate the atmosphere of the lighthouse at night (the lighthouse, rooms, buildings are illuminated).

7.      Focus on the place/event, the integrity of the lighthouse composition. Execution of not only the lighthouse tower, but also adjacent buildings, territory, landscape elements, people, transport, fleet, aviation and so on, associated with the event being represented.  Often these elements are inseparable from the point of view of a holistic perception of the lighthouse and the event.

8.      Availability of material to a wide audience. Short video clips using historical material, in the genre of a walk through the lighthouse, in which, while “traveling” through the model, the lighthouse and its history are briefly and unobtrusively shown.  Can be displayed next to the lighthouse in photo frames or LCD panels with captions in English.

9.     Reliability of manufacture.  The use of specialized prototyping materials and technologies makes it possible to ensure sufficient reliability of the models. We understand that when using a model, both at high-traffic exhibitions and at home, anything can happen, so we made sure that parts or the lawn do not fall off due to random blows of wind or the tilt of the model. Everything is securely fixed, although of course it is better to protect the model from threats such as a curious cat with a protective transparent dome.

10.     Easy to use and maintain. Autonomous electric models may require replacement of standard batteries from time to time. This procedure is absolutely not complicated, and durability is ensured by the use of low-power LEDs for flashlights. Dioramas in scales from 1:200 can be equipped with their own power supply, as they often shine brighter and use more light sources. Connecting and disconnecting power to them is no more difficult than when charging a phone.

What are the advantages of our models for exhibitions:

1.     High accuracy and reliability of the model (especially a lot of details at scales of 1:100, 1:200) - all models are worked out in detail and designed using modern CAD systems. The ability to convey any state of the lighthouse - only built or current, without embellishing reality.

2. Dimmed light allows you to demonstrate the atmosphere of the lighthouse at night (the lighthouse, rooms, buildings are illuminated).

4.     Availability of material to a wide audience. Short video clips using historical material, in the genre of a walk through the lighthouse, in which, while “traveling” through the model, the lighthouse and its history are briefly and unobtrusively shown.  Can be displayed next to the lighthouse in photo frames or LCD panels with captions in English

5.     Information capacity of models - the ability to tell a whole story around one diorama/model

5.      Scalability to fit the size of the exhibition: adding 1:300 scale models to the exhibition allows you to show a large number of lighthouses. Execution in the same scale allows you to correlate their sizes visually.

6.     Good compatibility/integration into other exhibitions: with ship models, photographs, paintings, thematic books

7.     Anti-vandal protection of models. Mainly for dioramas (although it is possible for any model), a protective transparent dome is made to protect against dust and damage.

Our Models at exhibitions

Videos about the project models mayachnik.ru, shown at the opening of the exhibition can be viewed here.

NTV St. Petersburg story about the exhibition "Lighthouses of the Russian North". In the frame is the exhibition of the project "Lighthouse. Virtual Museum of Lighthouses of the World" Tolbukhin's diorama on a scale of 1:200, a showcase with included models of lighthouses with an exact light code: Tolbukhin, Svirsky, Storozhensky on a scale of 1:300. Our exposition will remain on display until March 1st. Afterwards you will be able to see a model of the Tolbukhin lighthouse with an exact light code on a scale, donated from our project to the museum of the icebreaker Krasin 1:300.http://www.ntv.ru/novosti/1338678/
