Gold Badge Silver Bronze
Sea lighthouses are not yet a relic from the past, but their purpose is slowly beginning to change. Their main task for centuries was to indicate a safe route to their destination port. Now, in a time of increasing automation, the computer has even reached the captain's bridge. Lighthouses did not become unnecessary, but sailors stopped using them. They need a GPS device, thanks to which they know the position of their ship regardless of the time of day and weather.
Therefore, what's next for the future of lighthouses, called blizami in Kashubian language?
Tourists became interested in them. Dozens of organizations around the world are repairing and equipping their lighthouses, wanting to encourage people to visit them. "World Lighthouse Keeper's Day" has been organized, which is also celebrated in Poland for several years now, always on the third Sunday in August.
The organizers of the tourism movement in Poland also decided to join in this action. For this purpose, we have been running a campaign since the 2006 season, for everyone who visits us, the opportunity to receive the Tourist Badge of the Admirer of Sea Lighthouses "BLIZA".
It is enough to visit any 5 Polish lighthouses within 2 years and collect confirmations called visas in a special passport purchased at one of the lighthouses. Send us this passport with stamps, and we will send you a Bronze Badge for a BLIZA Lighthouse Admirer.
With the Bronze Badge you can complete the next step. You have the chance to receive the privilege of free access to all lighthouses in Poland that are open to the public.
For this purpose, you should visit other Polish lighthouses. There are only 8 of them left before you. Receive your stay visas with them, and then you received your “lighthouse” passport with 13 visas (including 5 of them that had already been received earlier), and after verification, we will return your passport with a new Silver Badge of a BLIZA sea lighthouse admirer.
This is not the end yet. By being resilient, you have a chance to receive the BLIZA Gold Lighthouse Admirer Badge. The time to receive it, as in the case of the Silver Badge, is unlimited! It is enough, upon receipt of the Silver Badge, to visit 3 foreign lighthouses (in other countries), receive arbitrary confirmations of stay at them and inform us about this by sending us a “lighthouse” passport along with these confirmations.
Holders of the BLIZA Gold Badge receive, in addition to free visits to Polish lighthouses, an additional valuable privilege - free entry to exhibitions organized by the Central Maritime Museum in Gdańsk, as well as the Museum of the Lighthouse and Maritime Rescue Service at the lighthouse in Swinoujscie.
The cost of sending materials is paid by the organizers of the movement.
Organizers of the BLIZA campaign:
- Society of Friends of the Central Maritime Museum www.tpcmm.pl
