The publication consists of two parts - essays by the author and an anthology of works of art dedicated to lighthouses. When creating the book, the author S. Aksentiev pursued several goals: to lift the veil of mystery, to reveal the inner world of lighthouse workers, to talk about the talent of their creators and the fate of the lighthouse towers they erected.

S. Aksentyev's essays tell about the lighthouses of all the seas of the European part of the former USSR. Much attention is paid to the Black and Caspian Seas, on the shores of which the author now lives and previously served.

When preparing the publication, S. Aksentiev used archival data. In addition, I received information for the book by communicating with experts and lovers of lighthouse business.

“When working on the essays, fate gave me communication with amazing people: hydrographers Alexei Duka and Sergei Balashov, lighthouse keeper on Ai-Todor Yurieim Tyurin, chairman of the Northern Seafaring Partnership, enthusiast - local historian and expert on the Solovetsky Islands Vasily Matonin, as well as candidate of technical sciences Sergei Mishchenko,” the author recalls with gratitude.
