Local review only · not public no-info · Lighthouse_icon.png The project is rightfully considered the largest in Russia resource on lighthouses and lighthouse keepers (lighthouse keepers).
Purpose of the project
is the collection and preservation of information about all lighthouses of the world, primarily lighthouses of Russia.
Popularization of lighthouses.
The lighthouse website is a rarity in Russia and our encyclopedia will partially correct this gap.
The project is non-profit and all incoming funds go to the development and support of the project, or to targeted assistance to lighthouses, lighthouses and projects with goals consistent with us.
With the advent of GPS and Glonass in many countries, the need for lighthouses as such disappeared and the profession of lighthouse keeper (lighthouse keeper) began to gradually become a thing of the past.
Many lighthouses have already ceased to be used. Satellite navigation leaves no chance for lighthouses, but this does not mean that history should simply be forgotten. Lighthouse lightis still important for coastal navigation in a number of areas. And we don’t want only the shadow of the lighthouse to remain in our history.
In order to preserve these magnificent buildings, lighthouse preservation societies are being created around the world. Many lighthouses have been converted into museums, and former keepers often serve as tour guides, although these people tend to combine a wide variety of responsibilities in their activities.
Image removed from public review package. Local review only · not public no-info · Le_Phare_de_Kerbel.jpgIt is even possible to live in the premises of some lighthouses for some time. This service has become very popular among romantics who want to taste all the colors of the life of a lighthouse keeper. Typically, the money that tourists pay, thanks to the efforts of lighthouse preservation societies, is used to maintain lighthouses in good condition. For example, one of the lighthouse keepers in the USA raises $1 million to repair the lighthouse in this way.
For a large number of people, lighthouses are a symbol of light, hope and a clear path. Despite the fact that the profession of a lighthouse keeper is becoming a thing of the past, the lighthouses themselves are still capable of bringing a lot of benefits. For example, there are a large number of lighthouses around the world that offer stunning views of the sea and coastal areas. Some lighthouse buildings are used by scientists who observe the behavior of whales. In addition, lighthouses often help ornithologists. As for creative people or just lovers of lonely thoughts, lighthouses are just perfect for them. The spirit and romance of lighthouses attracts many people around the world.
Image removed from public review package. Local review only · not public no-info · Punta_Delgada.jpgThe work of lighthouses is invisible to most people, but often it is a constant feat and overcoming difficulties, especially in Russia.
As part of a press conference on board the icebreaker-museum "Krasin" (international conference "Problems of studying and preserving the maritime heritage of Russia", which took place in October 2010), scientists presented disappointing statistics: there are not even 20 large maritime museums in all of Russia (for comparison, there are more than 200 in the USA). There are no lighthouse museums, even less so.
We want the history of lighthouses and lighthouses to be preserved. We are farologists (from farology), professionals and amateurs who are passionate about lighthouses and lighthouse business.
Lighthouses, as symbols of hope, will always attract many people around the world.

Image removed from public review package. Local review only · not public no-info · logo-2015_0.pngImage removed from public review package. Local review only · not public no-info · Lighthouse_icon.png
Image removed from public review package. Local review only · not public no-info · Le_Phare_de_Kerbel.jpgВ помещениях некоторых маяков даже возможно какое-то время пожить.
Image removed from public review package. Local review only · not public no-info · Punta_Delgada.jpgРабота маячников, для большинства людей незаметна, но зачастую это постоянный подвиг и преодоление трудностей, особенно в России.
