§ 26. LIGHTHOUSE KEEPER

Characteristics of the work. Supervision of systems, mechanisms and devices of lighthouse equipment. Ensuring that the lights are lit on the lighthouse and adjacent coastal and navigational signs related to this lighthouse. Identifying defects and malfunctions in the lighthouse, its devices and equipment, taking measures to eliminate them. Storage and accounting of material and technical resources allocated to the lighthouse. Preparing the lighthouse inventory and equipment for winter safety and repairs. Driving a motor boat.

Must know: the purpose and design of all types of lighthouse equipment, instruments and equipment; basics of electrical engineering, optics; chemical and physical properties of flammable materials used in lighthouses; the procedure for focusing light sources in lighting devices; rules for using ammeters, voltmeters, rheostats, thermometers and other measuring instruments; the procedure for preparing the lighthouse equipment for the winter period; rules for navigation on inland waterways; visual and sound signals.
