The authoritative British magazine LAMP Association of Lighthouse Keepers (Association of Lighthouse Keepers) published an article by the mayachnik.ru project about the keepers of the Kurbatov Lighthouse - Kurbatova Lighthouse - from the virtual museum of lighthouses of the world!
This is a great joy for us, since the article was not easy to prepare. The idea for the article arose in the spring of 2014, when, thanks to an article by Brigit van den Broek mentioning our project, we met the previous editor of the magazine. It was very interesting for the readers of the magazine to learn about the lighthouses of Russia and the first article was prepared about the female head of the lighthouse, Kurbatov. As usual, we were preparing to get answers to questions during the rangers' vacation on the mainland in the summer, but due to unexpected training, the rangers did not go on vacation, and the material should have been ready by October. We convey our deep gratitude to Samarin I.A. thanks to the expedition, to the lighthouse, which was able to receive news with answers to questions literally before the submission of the material and prepare a professional translation.
I am very happy that we have already received a number of very warm responses to the article from the association’s keepers and lighthouse lovers. The sincere and kind words with which Elena Barbasheva spoke about life and work at the lighthouse did not leave them indifferent, and one of the keepers wrote that this was perhaps the best description of the life and value system of a lighthouse keeper, as something familiar to many who worked at lighthouses.
In the coming weeks, we hope to receive a parcel with a paper version of the magazine, after which we will publish the Russian and English versions of the article on our website mayachnik.ru
Once again we thank Samarin I.A. and everyone who helped with obtaining expedition photo materials about the lighthouse!
The publication of this article once again proves that the life of lighthouse keepers, who sometimes perform invisible feats and invest a part of themselves in the light of lighthouses, is even more worthy of publication than the story about the lighthouses themselves. And it’s especially nice that the life of Russian lighthouse keepers is interesting abroad in one of the largest lighthouse associations.

Image removed from public review package. Local review only · not public no-info · lamp-103.jpg В авторитетном британском журнале LAMP Association of Lighthouse Keepers (Ассоциации смотрителей маяков) вышла статья проекта mayachnik.ru о смотрителях маяка Курбатова - Kurbatova Lighthouse - from the virtual museum of lighthouses of the world!
